Stairlift dimensions: How much space do I need to install a stairlift?
The width of our stairlifts varies from 64 to 77 cm (with the chair unfolded), depending on the model. You will not have any space issues with a Stannah stairlift – a stairlift with a folded seat doesn’t take up more than 30 cm on the stairs.

Can I install a stairlift regardless of the staircase’s width?
You can install a Stannah stairlift on any straight, narrow or curved staircase. The stairs only need to be 65 cm wide.

Can I install a stairlift on narrow stairs?
Yes. Most staircases are wide enough to install a stairlift. Our technicians will identify the best place to park the stairlift, so it doesn’t get in the way of people who prefer to use stairs.

Can I install a stairlift by myself?
A stairlift is a piece of mobility equipment. So, unless you are a technician trained in installing a Stannah stairlift, you should not install it yourself.

How long does it take to install a stairlift?
The average installation time for a stairlift is 5 hours. All the necessary work is done quickly, efficiently and without damaging your stairs.

Can stairlifts be installed in curved, narrow stairs?
Yes, they can. At Stannah, we have such a wide range of solutions that it’s almost impossible not to find the perfect stairlift for your narrow curved stairs.

No. There is no subsidy or tax incentive to buy a stairlift in Greece. However, our mobility experts are always available to help you check if there is a mobility solution that can fit your needs and budget.

Can I rent a stairlift?
Yes. Renting a stairlift is a good solution to temporary mobility issues or if you are unsure whether you will stay in the house you are currently living in for a long time. However, at the moment, Stannah doesn’t offer a rental option in Greece. Nonetheless, our mobility experts are happy to help you understand what is the best stairlift to fit your mobility needs and your budget.
